Boxcar Satan at the Art Car Ball 2006

I caught Boxcar Satan opening for a band called Gorche Fock or something like that. It was in the Red Room at the Meridian so I didn't really shoot much of em. But I did enjoy the hell out the show. It's another one of those times I liked the opener more than the headliners. So I was pretty happy to see that they brought em back for this show. I was hoping to catch them on the big stage, but instead they played the outdoor stage, which made for some unique lighting and photo moments. Nothing earth shattering but different than my usual concert shooting.
They had the belly dancers going on inside at the same time so that drained off a good portion of the audience which sorta sucks but what can you do? Though after catching Flametrick Subs inside later I think they would have been much more suited to playing on the same stage as them. If you can dig one them you would probably like the other. Flametrick is more psychobilly than Boxcar but they both are pure american music. Well maybe Tom Waits meet Screamin J Hawkins but hey they were both americans so...I can't in all honesty say that Boxcar Satan will appeal to everyone. Then again not everyone gets Tom Waits or Hawkin either.
