Art Car
Ball 2006
Last year when I attended the Art Car Ball, I went inside soon after
I got there and got caught up in the Blacklight art, the belly dancers,
fashion show and bands. I completely forgot to take pics of any of the
cars or anything outside for the most part. This year I made sure I got
there early enough to check out the cars. I spent enough time outside
this time I got to catch Rev Butter doing his ice thing, Boxcar Satan
doing a set outside and enjoyed the fluke good weather in Houston. In
doing that I missed the belly dancers completely and most of the beatbox
guy doing his thing inside. But you can't be everywhere I guess. The other
thing I missed was the costume contest but I'm not sure they even had..
Though they should have, there were enough people there in what I can
only hope were costumes for it to have been a hit. The only thing now that needs to improve is for more people to learn
about this Ball, and maybe them hold it on the friday night before the
parade or something. Don't get me wrong I love the parade but if 200,000
people show up to that it should be no problem to get 2000 to come to
an event were they can really get close to the cars and talk to the artist
and folks who make Houston the art car capital. Not to mention the bands,
dancers and other cool stuff going on.. That's gotta beat just standing
on the sidewalk watching the cars go by or at least enhance the experience.
